Position Summary:

The Public Policy Community Engagement Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing GS1's federation-wide involvement by creating and disseminating content that aligns with the organisation's public policy strategy, GS1 standards, registries, and 2D initiatives. This position focuses primarily on engaging policymakers and GS1 Member Organisations.

The manager will oversee both internal and external public policy communications, networks, tools, and channels. They will be responsible for addressing support requests from Member Organisations and industry partners. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, requiring close coordination with our global public policy team, as well as departments such as Retail, Standards and Registries, Marketing, and Training.

This position will be instrumental in driving GS1's engagement efforts, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring that GS1's standards and initiatives are effectively communicated and implemented across various sectors. By facilitating dialogue between policymakers, member organisations, and industry partners, this role will help to advance GS1's mission of enabling frictionless commerce and optimising supply chain operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape global, regional, and sector-specific public policy initiatives, driving GS1's influence in the regulatory landscape.
  • Empower Member Organisations' public policy engagement by collaborating with local experts and delivering materials targeting regulators.
  • Spearhead public policy communications, leveraging the GS1 Member Organisation Interest Group (MOIG) and Advisory Council to maximise impact.
  • Curate engaging public policy content for social media and newsletters, amplifying GS1's voice in the policy arena.
  • Deliver cutting-edge public policy programmes on digital product passports, circularity, and customs modernisation.
  • Develop innovative tools and resources to galvanise industry public policy experts, including webinars, legislation trackers, and strategic materials.
  • Prepare GS1 events by involving policymakers, industry leaders, and technical experts to drive meaningful dialogue and 
     

Education/Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a public policy function, communication or Member Organisation engagement
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Experience working with globally distributed and diverse teams
  • Knowledge of public policy environment, trends and tools
  • Experience in corporate public policy programme design, development and implementation
  • Experience in training delivery and facilitation 
     

Skills required:

  • Must be fluent in English, oral and written. 
  • Understanding of major public policy stakeholders
  • Good understanding of the GS1 System and willingness to build and constantly develop expertise 
  • Understanding of the GS1 Standards, Registries and 2D offer (preferred)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff with different levels of seniority, and with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships, internally at Global Office and externally with Member Organisations and third parties
  • Operates in a manner that demonstrates honesty; keeps promises and honours commitments; behaves in a consistent manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Customer-focused and results-oriented
  • An enthusiastic team player with ability to work autonomously
     

Additional Information:

Travel: This job may require up to 5% global travel.
