GS1 Healthcare GTIN Allocation Rules® ratified and released
Since the development of the original Healthcare Global Trade Item Number® (GTIN®) Allocation Rules over a decade ago, new regulations, new business processes and new requirements have risen that require clarifications within the Healthcare GTIN® Allocation Rules.
To maintain its value in the identification of items and in the broader implementation of GS1 standards in the healthcare industry, in June of this year the rules were updated, ratified and Release 10.0 was published. This revision will make the rules easier to use, and help companies better understand situations where healthcare specific rules apply.
To assist in understanding and applying the changes, GS1 has created an interactive Decision Support Tool available for all stakeholders.
