Example 2
The following is an example of a product inquiry message between a buyer identified by GLN 5071615111110 and a supplier identified by GLN 5098765111111. The message number is 264 and it was generated on the 27th of August 2002. The buyer requests that the price list currency be quoted in Euros.
The buyer requests several pieces of information in the message. Firstly, the availability of the product identified by GTIN 5412345123453. Secondly, all commercial information, i.e prices, allowances and charges, payment terms, etc., related to three products identified by GTINs 5410738377117, 5410738377131, and 5412345111115.
The third piece of information requested concerns a request for all information for products which have the following attributes, a blue denim shirt of the rancher style in sizes medium, large and extra large. The manufacturer of the product is identified by GLN 5422331123459 and the buyer only wants information on products with these attributes which have a list unit price of between 5 and 8 Euros per piece.
The likely response from a supplier to the first two requests would be a Price/Sales Catalogue message (PRICAT). The supplier would respond to the third request with both a Product Data message and a Price/Sales Catalogue message as stated in the IRQ segment (DE 4511).
