The resolver is the service based on the GS1 Digital Link standard. It is a free, high-performance, high-resilience system that ‘resolves’ GS1 identifiers to one or more sources of information about the identified item. For example, it can link a GTIN to traceability information about the product, nutritional information, and claims such as ‘gluten free’ or ‘organic’ for food items. For hardware it can link to things like instruction manuals and usage videos. At the same time, the resolver can link an identified item to information for business partners such as recall status APIs, master data, hazardous handling instructions and more.
Links to those information sources can be updated at any time, perhaps to point to promotions or updated information It means your barcode works harder for you, acting as a gateway to unlimited resources to support your B2B and B2C operations.
To find out more, head over to the GS1-Conformant resolver standard. Contact your local GS1 Member Organisation to find out how you can connect your barcodes to the web for free as well as information about how you can run your own resolver and join the network.
