The use of RAIN RFID tags is driving visibility and inventory efficiency throughout the entire supply chain.
RFID performance is pivotal in any successful roll-out. The Tagged-Item Performance Protocol (TIPP) Guideline provides a standard means to express performance requirements and a standard test protocol to verify the performance of a tagged item (not a tag only) that can be referenced by all in the supply chain and verified independently by end-users, suppliers or third parties.
The TIPP guideline is a set of 3 documents that outline and explain the tagged-item grading methodology, test configuration and grade definition. It is useful for specifying and verifying tagged-item performance between trading partners (typically end-users and suppliers). The guideline allows end-user the flexibility to set performance levels for their use case and suppliers the flexibility in how they meet grade levels from multiple customers.
Version 1.2 of the TIPP guideline now includes a new family for tagged-items to be used in smart cabinets or smart enclosures. This family comes along with 3 new grades. This is mainly to address the increasing use of RAIN RFID for pharmaceutical products.
